Looking through the Narratives of School- based Feeding Program Coordinators: A Phenomenology

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the narratives of school-based feeding program coordinators, focusing on their experiences, coping mechanisms, and insights in organizing and facilitating feeding programs. A qualitative phenomenological approach was utilized, involving in-depth interviews with 14 coordinators from public elementary schools in Kapalong, Davao del Norte, selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and themes. Findings revealed challenges such as logistical issues, time constraints, and financial limitations, with coordinators relying on collegial support and resilience to manage these difficulties. Key insights emphasized patience, flexibility, and the program's positive impact on students' hunger alleviation and academic performance. The study concluded that the coordinators' experiences offer valuable lessons for enhancing the effectiveness of school-based feeding initiatives, underscoring the need for sustained support and resource allocation.
