Abstract
The study aims to present and identify the significance of psychology, implications, and
the experiences and journeys of “Sunod” among the Biga group and its neighboring tribes
in Tabuk City, Kalinga. This research underwent a Qualitative and Descriptive study using
Psychological, Sociological, and Ethnographic approaches, exploring the cultural practices of the group. Selected "Pangat" (leaders) and elders from the Biga group participated in the research, sharing their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives on the role of “Sunod” in their lives. The study found that the Ibiga and neighboring tribes maintain a harmonious relationship and peaceful living. The family plays a crucial role in providing discipline and cooperation among its members. It also emerged that being considered part of the “Sunod” does not require blood relations but includes all members of the tribe and neighboring tribes. This practice helps avoid conflicts or undesirable events among individuals. The significance of the “Sunod” relationship is strongly adhered to in their daily lives, contributing to their resilience in facing life's challenges. Additionally, the influence of the “Pangat” or tribal elders, and other senior members, is substantial in maintaining order and stability within the community.
